At last, Giannis Antetokompo triumphs against LeBron James in the NBA All-Star game. LeBron James is still my favorite player, yet I find it astonishing how after many years of going head-to-head in the NBA All-Stars Giannis finally pulled through. He is now 5-1 against LeBron. Both are as humble as ever, and there is nothing but respect between these two players. Giannis has already made a name for himself and the Bucks franchise. I believe he will be taking over the eastern conference this season since the west is pretty much stacked. It was fun but I was only able to watch the ending of the game. It definitely could have been more exciting, but it was giving me layup line vibes. Jaylen Brown’s take on the game was that it’s not basketball.
What I miss most about the quality of the NBA All-Star games was the dunk contest. The 2015 and 2016 dunk contest were the best. Zach Lavine’s dunks were insane, especially in the 2016 dunk consent. I do feel for Aaron Gordon though because every year he competes in the dunk contest he’s sold. Part of this is due to the judges not seeing that his competition is copying his dunks. Ever since then, the dunk contest has only been mid. Hopefully, in the future, the NBA All-Star weekend will be like it used to be.
